An alleged man of Somali origin hired a trolley to ferry luggage to the Odeon Cinema public bus terminus. Resources indicate that the customer claimed to have forgotten his national identification card and pretended to go back for it when the suspected Improvised Explosive Device (IED) exploded nine minutes later. Two people are reportedly injured and rushed to hospital; Cart puller and a newspaper vendor. We wish them a quick recovery.The scene is now under security agencies. Police spokesperson Charles Owino urged public to keep off from the scene.
“We have a preliminary report it is a minor IED explosion. The most important thing is to request people to stay away from the scene and leave it for bomb experts. Minor explosions could be booby traps to pull crowds for other attacks. Minor explosions require that you keep caution. It is standard precaution,” Police spokesperson Charles Owino urged public to keep off from the scene.
